In the late 90's singer/songwriter Ian Somers, left Universal act Limblifter, to form Brundlefly. Pulling influence and inspiration from the Pixies, U2 and the understated art rock of Mercury Rev, Brundlefly's dark, melodic guitar driven pop has garnered opening slots from US band LIVE and British eccentrics Super Furry Animals to hard rockers Nickelback, singer/songwriter Holly McNarland, Copyright the Killjoys and many more national acts. Since its inception, the band has taken the credible path of the devoted indie artist and developed National respect within Canada and the Northwestern United States. In 1998, Somers garnered a worldwide publishing deal with Peer Music on the strength of early demos and Brundlefly released their debut record "Locked in this House" through Tonic Records. The album quickly gained attention from fans and industry alike. The single "It May Rain" was spun heavily on commercial, college and on-line radio in Canada as well as the United States.

"...an unbelievable affinity for hooks and melodies." - Calgary Sun After spending some time creating a more progressive pop rock sound, Brundlefly launched their much anticipated sophomore album, "By the Way". Released in February (Tonic/Page/EMI), Somers, along with band mates Chris Copeland (drums), Shane Turner (bass) and Glen Delukas (guitar) stretched their road legs during two cross Canada tours to promote the album ending as headliners of The Edge 102 new music showcase at this years NXNE festival. "By The Way," was recorded with producer Todd Simko (Pure, Sean McDonald, Jordi Birch) who spent many months challenging the band and sharing a vision of sounds and songs. "Todd was a very big part of this record. What really effected this recording was the environment that was created by Todd's producing style. Some days we would spend five hours searching for the perfect sound to perform a particular melody," says Somers.

Brundlefly's first single. "Revolution", spun on commercial/college radio across Canada and the Pacific Northwest US on stations like X-FM & CFOX (Vancouver), The Edge 102 (Toronto), X-FM (Ottawa), CKKQ & CJZN (Victoria), CHOM (Montreal), CJAY (Calgary) CFBR & CJSR (Edmonton), Q107 (Oregon) and (Seattle, Washington). "Revolution" was also featured on MuchMusic, MTV Canada, and MuchMusic's Going Coastal as well as Canada AM, Eclipse TV and Umbrella TV.
